<article-title>Ergonomic Tricycle Back-Ride for Orthopedically Impaired Drivers</article-title>

<abstract><p>Person with disabilities (PWDs) are allowed to drive motor vehicles and make modifications on the vehicle to fit to the nature of their disabilities. Lucena City in Quezon has the highest number of PWDs and many of them are working as tricycle drivers. However, most of the tricycles were designed only for passengers and not for drivers with orthopedic disabilities. Though, there were some improvisation but it still did not provide comfort which led to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). This study evaluated the current design of the tricycle with focus on the driver’s seat and the controls to identify the source of MSDs. An ergonomic tricycle’s back ride was proposed since there is still no design available specific for orthopedically-impaired drivers. This improved design can address the ergonomic risks and can accommodate various sizes of drivers to help them work comfortably and safely.</p></abstract>
