<abstract><p>Regional economists often explore the relationship between industrial and occupational structures and how they vary across space and time. In this commentary, I explore how entrepreneurial enterprises at local and regional scales succeed in bridging sectors and locations, using a case study of how a for-profit weekly newspaper enterprise serving a Minnesota city of 12000 residents and a country of 36000 residents diversifies and energizes a depopulated downtown by transforming its office into an art gallery hosting bi-monthly curated exhibits by area artists and participating in area “roundabouts” where seven or more arts venues coordinate bimonthly Thursday evening openings.</p></abstract>
