Abstract

This article focuses on "the role of reading on the understanding of storytelling" for the 5th year primary school students. These learners face difficulties in reading French and cannot get the meaning of the written language. We wonder why the primary school students have difficulties in understanding texts in French. In our hypothesis, we devise the story as a means that provides the learners at this phase with better remedialv means to reading comprehension. There is a big influence of the story on young learners and thus its effect on their involvement in reading texts is conspicuous. The results obtained are positive according to the observation of the reading activity and the distribution of the questionnaire to the teachers.
