Abstract
This research article aims to analyze the tonic sounds of Nilo-Saharan languages with reference to Fur language. The researchers have adopted descriptive analytical methodology to do this research article. They analyze and describe the tonic sounds system of Fur language. They found out that there are six tonic vowel sounds groups in Fur language , group one includes eight short rising tonic sounds represented by (') above the tonic vowel. Group two includes eight short rising and falling tonic sound represented by ( ̂ ) above the tonic vowel. Group three consists of eight falling and rising tonic vowel represented by (ˇ) above the tonic vowel. Group four includes eight long rising tonic sounds which consists of double short rising tonic sounds represented by ( ˶ ) above double short vowel. Group five consists of six long rising and falling tonic vowel represented by ( ́ ) above the first rising tonic vowel . Group six includes seven long falling and rising tonic represented by ( ́ ) above the second rising tonic vowel. All in all, there are around 45 tonic vowel sounds in Fur language
