The Negative Effects of Kabuga ‘ Gwarzo Road Dualization, Underpass and BUK Drainages on the Neighbouring Community

Abstract

The study assesses the Negative effects of Kabuga ‘ Gwarzo Road Dualization and underpass on the Neighboring community in the state. The objectives of the study are: To ascertain the complains of the residence of the area on flooding as a result of the project. To assess the Negative effects of the project on the community. Field observation, Field measurement, interview and desk literature materials were used to generate data for the study. The descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The study reveals that drainage was adequately constructed along the road and underpass but, were wrongly channeled into a single street path (Layin Asibitin shakatafi) in Kabuga Quarters. The study also revealed that the wrongly channeled drainages possess a lot of threats and challenges to the people of the areas. The study recommends that the drainage along the two sides of the road should be extended and connected to River Janguza to reduce the volume of water going into the neighboring quarters and houses, Ecological fund should be sorted for and used to construct modern drainage and feeder roads in the affected areas of Kabuga quarters.
