Abstract
A bibliographical review of the present study shows that the Quadriceps Femoral is composed of a complex architecture and still difficult to be understood in its entirety. Through the analysis of articles from the last five years, we concluded that the anterior part of the thigh, specifically the knee extensor apparatus, has not only four muscles as cited in the classic literature, but with variants, this article, which opposes this historical view. Thus, the set of Quadriceps Femoral would lose the meaning of its name according to the nomina anatomica, being able to be called Multíceps Femoral.
